This is not a philosophical observation. It is a structural mechanism that produces a predictable, repeatable market event: the Monday gap. When Friday's closing bell rings, Bitcoin keeps trading. News breaks. Leverage builds. Liquidation cascades trigger. By the time the New York Stock Exchange reopens, the ETF's opening price must "catch up" to a weekend of accumulated price discovery in a single opening auction — often leaving a visible gap on the chart.
